A concert for all ages that includes a medley of Duke Ellington songs and works by Copland, Whitacre, Hagenberg, Jeffrey Ames, and Curtis Mayfield. Since 2009, our community based youth choir, Nova, has brought advanced 6-12 grade singers together from across Oakland
This year, we are transitioning to create a second choir, Aurora.

Youth Programs
Cantare’s innovative and inclusive in-school music education classes and afterschool choirs reach underserved Oakland children who lack access to the arts. We provide tuition-free choral music instruction led by experienced teaching artists—and offer students a safe, supportive, and fun experience through our multicultural curriculum.

Adult Choirs
Cantare’s auditioned 100-voice symphonic Chorale rehearses and performs a variety of compelling and challenging choral music during our concert season. Our non-auditioned Summer Adult Choir will return in June 2025.
